Neurofibrillary degeneration (NFD) is revealed by immunohistochemistry, using antibodies against tau proteins. Indeed, tau proteins are the basic components of the abnornal filaments that accumulate in the degenerating neurons. Here, you have a demonstration of the tau pathology on a tissue section from an Alzheimer brain, using our monoclonal antibody AD2.
Note that at the last stage of the disease, all brain areas are affected that way, and you see a disruption of the neuritic communicating network.
